Pinkies together, shovel behind
Hands low with little fingers nearly touching, palms up behind the ball — not on its sides. Scoop through it in one continuous motion.

Long barrier behind the ball
Get the whole body in line behind the ball before it arrives. If it skips through the hands, the chest and legs are the backstop.

Attack the ground ball
Move to meet the ball with quick feet instead of waiting on it. Waiting invites a bad bounce and gives attackers time to close you down.
